5 How To Configure CO.CC Domain For Blogger Custom Domain Setting

Buzz This

Thanks to CO.CC for providing free domain names which is very easy to configure with blogger's custom domain settings. But I have seen lots of such blogs which do not get redirected if naked domain name entered in your internet browser (naked domain means that a site name entered without prefix 'www', for example: http://domainname.co.cc instead of http://www.yourdomainname.co.cc). See image below for the error you get:

This error comes even if we have checked settings in blogger to redirect from naked domain to the full. (see image below)

Now you must be wondering what to do to get rid of this error. Don't worry it's not a big issue, just follow the steps below and put an end to this error:

First of all, make sure that you have a co.cc account and a free domain name registered with it. If not then grab one from here.

Now, logon to your co.cc account and go to domain settings and from there choose yourdomainname.co.cc under Manage Domains.

Click on Set up button, after this action you will get a page with three options:
  1. Name Server
  2. Zone Records
  3. Url Forwarding
Here you have to choose the second option i.e. Zone Records.

Under Zone Records you will get a 'Add a record' form with four entries to make:
  1. Host
  2. TTL
  3. Type
  4. Value
To get it configured with your blogger settings you will have to make five records in this form.

For the first four records make following entries:
  1. Host : www.yourdomainname.co.cc
  2. TTL : 1D (or as per your wish from the given options)
  3. Type: A
  4. Value: 216.239.32.21
  5. Click on Set up button
Now, repeat the above step for 3 more times only changing the 'Value' option with following ip addresses:
216.239.34.21
216.239.36.21
216.239.38.21

See the image below for help:

And for the fifth record the step is almost same to the above one with changes only in the 'Type' and 'Value':
  1. Host : www.yourdomainname.co.cc
  2. TTL : 1D (or as per your wish from the given options)
  3. Type: CNAME
  4. Value: ghs.google.com
  5. Click on Set up button
See the image below for help:

As per CO.CC's terms it may take upto 48 hours for any changes to take effect. After that you can check your domain without 'www' on your browser's address bar, voilla! its working now.

Many institutions limit access to their online information. Making this information available will be an asset to all.
